Beaming Strollers beaten by Beamers
posted: July 15, 2013
In an enjoyable midweek T20 tussle at North Middlesex CC last night, with a threadbare core seven Strollers turnout boosted by the addition of no fewer than four ringers (including a couple of those that would normally turn out for the oppo!) it was sadly the Beamers who emerged victorious.
This despite winning the toss and knocking up a decent 151-7, with both Strollers and ringers batting well. Our prospects improved with the dismissal of the dangerous Simon Kemp for nought in the first over. However from then on we couldn’t restrict the run rate and the game was lost on two counts: (i) wides – 24 of them (as one of our young ringers in particular had a bit of an off day) and (ii) dropping Kyle Pitman on the one chance he gave us. As was the case in our earlier clash with the Beamers this summer, Pittman Jnr proved the decisive difference between the sides, smashing an unbeaten 77 and easing the Beamers over the winning line in the 17th over.
