Strollers just short in season opener
posted: April 21, 2013
The 2013 season got underway with an absorbing clash against old foes the Battersea Bohemians who just got the better of us having posted 210-8 thanks largely to a formidable 85 from returning opener Kanwar. This in spite of a generally good display in the field with promising spells from débutant Ashish and James (deploying a more controlled action) and penetrative bowling from Graeme who took 4-38.
In response, the Strollers came up 25 runs short despite a good knock from Matt, promoted to open the innings, who duly hit 57. However whilst several other Strollers batsmen made promising starts, too many holed out to the deep and with the run rate rising, the target eluded us.
