Vizzer seals victory at Chesham Bois with thunderous ton

Having been set a challenging target of 236 by Chesham Bois this afternoon, we held our nerve and notched up our third consectutive win of the season – thanks mainly to Viral who carded not only his maiden century for the Strollers but also his 2,000th run for the club... not a bad day's work!

Earlier the home side looked to have established a strong advantage with dangerman Uma again punishing us (like he did last summer) hitting a huge 111 before Nelson struck ...well, Gaurav actually on his way to collecting a handy 3-26. Having suffered a few late wickets that stemmed their charge, Chesham Bois closed posting a formidable 235-6.

In response, we made an imposing start – George and Abhik cruising to an unbeaten 50 opening stand before Brown Snr was undone by Argun. Ali sadly didn't last long and Abhik returned back to the hutch soon afterwards when he unluckily holed out to deep square leg for a well struck 34. However this brought 'De Dazzler' David Haines to the middle - rolling back the years to turn out once again for the Strollers - and he determinedly set about stoically blocking out his son Ollie, bowling from the other end (bragging rights back home clearly at stake).

At the other end Viral opened his account with a blistering straight drive and he continued as he began for the remainder of the match, untroubled and clobbering the ball with trademark ferocity into the surrounding trees. Well supported by Haines Snr (who walked off unbeaten on 37), it was doubtless Doshi's day and Chesham could do nothing to stop him as he brought us home on 115 not out with just 8 balls to spare. Well played, that man!
