Abhik stars as Corinthians cling on in first match

After the frustration of a fortnight of delays our 2022 season finally got underway in solid style as the spoils were shared in our first clash with new oppo, the Wealdstone Corinthians at Eastcote. In a declaration format match, Harry won his first toss and chose to bat, albeit on a pitch with variable bounce. As such we were only able to post a modest 139 with Viral top scoring with 26.

However, our hopes were raised as Abhik ploughed through the Corinthians top order as he made his way to sensational figures of 4-8. With Davie G, Varun and débutant Abhishek all making further inroads we had the oppo reeling at 53-5. However, early season jitters cost us dear as we spilled no fewer than 7 catches, allowing the Corinthians off the hook and ultimately the game closed with honours even. Nevertheless, a solid start to the season – we'll meet the Corinthians again in a few weeks time and we move on to face our old friends the Highgate Irregulars next weekend.
