An enigma as much to himself as anyone else, James 'Jimmy' Connell arrived into the Strollers ranks in 2009 with a bang. Despite being without doubt the fastest bowler to turn out for the Strollers for many a year, it was his insanely powerful throwing arm (known to clear distances in excess of two entire pitches) that raised most
eyebrows fears from his newfound brothers in arms. Since then the Strollers have learned how to cope with such an exocet missile returning from the deep with three line whip backing up and cries of "INCOMING!!!" now commonplace on Sunday afternoons on North London cricket fields. The aggression of Connell's fielding is matched by that of his bowling which sometimes can be devastating (sometimes not) and his worrying - if occasionally ever so slightly amusing - knack of taking out his own team mates with a misdirected return. A useful pinch hitter and recently in possession of that most controversial of weapons, a 'Mongoose', Connell's batting can be equally explosive. Still, if it's full blown all out war you want in your cricket, Jimmy's your man and long may he remain on the Strollers' side.
